    Installing Ethernet card on ubuntu

    Hello,

I am trying to install secondary ethernet card on my machine, i have onboard ethernet controller which is not supported for my current workload.

I connected the ethernet card, installed the drivers and used insmod to install igb drivers. Inspite of this the secondary ethernet card wont work. when i did cat /proc/modules..i see the igb driver but when i connect ethernet cable it wont work.
Also when i did lspci this particular card doesnt show up.

Do I have to change any bios settings to disable onboard ethernet card.

    Thanks,
    windmill

    Hello and Welcome!

You shouldn't have to disable the on-board card, but it couldn't hurt to try.
The fact that the second card isn't detected in lspci makes me wonder... have you tried this card in another machine?
Or a different card in the PCI slot of this machine?
