CTRL key keeps pressing randomly
Ok, so I recently came back to Ubuntu after giving up on it for a while for various reasons.
I have one VERY big problem right now, though.
Both CTRL keys will seem to press themselves at random intervals making it pretty much impossible to type anything. I'm currently posting this from my Windows partition where I had a similar problem that I managed to fix.
I figured the root of the problem (at least in Windows) was that the OS was recognising a keyboard that didn't exist. Apparently all this keyboard did was press CTRL all day.
Anyway, I managed to fix that by uninstalling that keyboard through the control panel. This completely fixed the issue. Granted, I had to re-do this every time I booted up again.
I have so far found no such way to do this in Ubuntu, and any help would be much appreciated.

If you experience the same problem in Windwos and in Linux, then it suggests you have a hardware failure of some kind. Do you have another keyboard you could try your system with? If you don't, do you know someone you could borrow one from for a short while to see if the problem disappears?

I've had similar problems when the key contacts get too dirty. Given the price of replacement keyboards, go get a new one, or try compressed air to blow out the debris.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
