Newbie question: error with file owner and starting a daemon

    Hello,

I have a problem that most likely is a typical newbie-issue.
I try to install a spindown tool (code.google.com/p/spindown/)
I've created a configuration file and the last step to do is to run the deamon.
    I entered:
    /etc/init.d/spindown start
but then I get an error message:
"Error: Configuration file is not owned by the same user and/or group that is running the daemon".

I tried to solve this by changing the owner of the configuration file from "nic" into "root". This didn't solve it.
Does anyone have suggestions what to do or to check?
