How Desktop behaves
Hi all, been awhile since I've been here. I've decided on using Ubuntu for now but the way the desktop behaves drives me bonkers. How do I stop icons from hiding and just stay in place? And, I like smaller icons. Large icons make me feel like I'm in kindergarten.
[edit] After looking at my system info I see it installed 32-bit Ubuntu and i have a 64-bit. I should get the 64-bit version. What's the best way to uninstall Ubuntu 11.10 while dual booted with windoz 7?
[edit] I may not have to install 64-bit. I quick look at some tech sites says it's not neccesary.
[edit] Since upgrading to 12 the side icons don't open the apps. I have to right-click and choose open.Last edited by dapperone; 09-02-2012 at 11:45 PM. Reason: new info

I started with Ubuntu back in 8.04, but abandoned it with 12.04 due to issues like you mention. Try Mint 13 for an old style Ubuntu with out the current issues.
