What's the second step? How are you trying to install? Did you download the iso file, burn it as an image to a CD/DVD and boot the computer with it? What hardware are you using? Have you checked the minimum hardware requirements for Lubuntu?

You either have a bad burn, or you're trying to run 64 bit OS on 32 bit hardware.

First of all, verify your installation disk. In case it is fine, post your machine's specs here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Exactly the same problem with Lubuntu 12.10

    Hi,

I have exactly the same problem: the installation stops in the second step. What is? The second step is where it says you are connected to the Internet, the disk space you have and present the options to selected third-party downloads and/or restricted. The process gets stuck for hours ...unless you finish it.

The version is the correct version: lubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386 Integrity is correct (md5 checksum), my usb key is fine, perfectly installed ubuntu 12.10, Lubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 13 (Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce), etc., The only problem is with Lubuntu 12.10.

Furthermore, in live mode works perfectly, the problem is trying to install. Installers used: Unetbootin, Universal USB Installer, LinuxLive USB Creator.

Asus Eee PC 701SD, 8GB SSDD, 1GB RAM, currently with Linux Mint 13 XFCE, working 100%
