i have windows 7 installed on my computer
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, 2400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
i'm trying to install linux dual booting between the two.
i have tried at least 6 different ones and the same thing happens. i put the cd in, boot the computer. when linux starts to load the computer shuts down. i even trid the live cds. still same thing. is there something i'm doing wrong. i like to try linux out.Last edited by chuckman45; 10-25-2012 at 08:53 PM.

Is there an Expert or Advanced mode that you can select? Text mode is also a good idea.
Alternatively, you can give Fedora a shot, it is also pretty good with newer hardware. It also supports Advanced/Text modes during install.

Which Graphics Card do you have? Have you tried text mode installation?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Installers are not configuring your Graphics Card properly. Try Ubuntu Alternate Installation CD. It works well with almost all Graphics Card. Its easy to fix Graphics after successful installation.
