Set up raid mirror on one drive first then two

I have a 1T western digital drive formatted FAT32 with lots of files on.
I was thinking of buying another and setting up a raid mirror system.
Can the following be implemented and any docs
    1) Set up the new blank drive as a single raid drive.
    2) Copy the old drive files onto the new drive
    3) Reformat the old drive as required.
    4) Bring the second drive into the raid mirror.

    Is this possible ?
    Thanks Jim
