Avast won't open in ubuntu on chromebook

    Hi everyone,

I am the proud new owner of a chromebook c7, I have already put ubuntu on it and everything I want but for some reason avast is not working. I click on the icon but it never comes up. I get no respeonse what-so-ever from the computer.

Yes, I know I don't need anti virus, but I am paranoid and it never hurts to have extra protection

You might take a look at the link below to the avast forums. I've never used it myself so have no experience. Have you tried running it from a terminal?

    Thanks

That seemed to do the trick Thanks! I installed the two things at the end of the link you posted and now it is working. It looks a bit more 8-bit/older looking then what I am used to the avast for linux looking, but maybe thats because this is a netbook ubuntu version?
