    Ubuntu bashrc


    Can someone tell me what is going on with my .bashrc file? I tried to change the prompt color but for some reason all of my shashes turned into somthing that resembles a Y here is a screenshot.Screenshot from 2013-03-28 23:25:47.jpg

    That Y symbol is for yen. I am wondering if gedit is trying to encode the text for some reason, as the yen symbol has the same byte value as the backslash in ASCII. Do you get a prompt for character encoding when you open the file? Try editing the file using vim or nano. Let us know if you have success. =)
