    Ubuntu 12.04 Software Manager Errors

I'm not sure exactly what went on to get to this point. Somehow it was requested that a library be uninstalled during an update or a new install of something else, but this won't go away and I have this red circle with a warning in the top of the screen saying that I need to fix this error. I'm including two screen captures of the errors.

The first one says that nothing can be installed until the package catalog has been repaired. I try doing that but nothing ever gets fixed.

The second capture shows package libnih-dbus1 saying that it can't be removed. I never wanted to remove it, how do I clear this?

If you can access a terminal, try the following commands
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo dpkg --configure -a
    sudo apt-get upgrade
Hopefully this will help you to resolve the package manager issues.
