    You're very short on information. Is this a new install? Have you had it up and working for some time? Any changes just prior to this error? Ubuntu, the only system on the computer? Grub2 installed? Where?

    Hi,

    For unknown cause I encountered the booting problem. This PC is running Oracle VirtualBox. While I was starting an VM it popup an warning unable to start. Then I rebooted the PC the problem still remained. Again I reboot the PC the 2nd time it came up to the booting problem as mentioned.

    I have fixed my problem as follows.

    1)
    Following;
    Boot-Repair
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bo...pair_in_Ubuntu

    to install Boot-Repair (I installed it on live-usb)

    After installation finished the software started to work automatically fixing the problem (IIRC answering YES to all questions).

    2)
    After 1) above finished, removed the live-ubs and booted the PC.

    Ubuntu 12.04 revived but unable to connect Internet. Then I followed;

    12.04 - NetworkManager not populating resolv.conf - Ask Ubuntu

    to fix the problem of resolv-conf.

    The PC is now working. Thanks
