    hi guys - newbie here

    Can any one advise a good book to learn from. From basic stuff say up to intermediate level.

    The one I always advise is Running Linux. But it's quite old and other people will probably provide you with some more up to date books.

    A very useful website is LinuxCommand.org: Learn the Linux command line. Write shell scripts.

    It has its own book which is available as a free PDF download The Linux Command Line by William E. Shotts, Jr.

    I like to use Bash Tutorial. Just type in "bash scripting tutorial" in the search box in your browser, and it'll pop right up. It's a small pdf file, so it will download quickly, too. That's all you need, brah.

    McGrath's Linux in Easy Steps for starters. Then do an online search on 'rute'
