Installation problem
I'm trying to install Ubuntu.
I did all the language and partitioning and all at the start.
After that it starts to install, but then the installation window just closes.
I have a AMD Athlon XP 1800, a Radeon 9550, 256mb of RAM and I am trying to dual-boot it with WinXP Pro.
What's the problem?

If you are using the live cd, try the alternate installation disc.

Here I have the same problem, the installation window suddenly closes when I get to install by live desktop.
On the alternate CD, I installed the Ubuntu, but the GNOME crashes everytime, also the Bug Report app.
So I think the problem is the GNOME, because Kubuntu (KDE) runs normally.

Install it with KDE, then install the package 'gdm'. At the login screen you should then be able to specify GNOME. If that still doesn't work, open up all the apt sources and see if you can install a newer version of GNOME.
