    Installation of Modem in Ubuntu 5.10


    Hi i m new to linux i can not install my modem which is intel 5628 modem a modem of intel 536ep series. i have installed the driver according to the instructions of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DialupModemHowto page.
    but even this i could not connect to internet. tell me what i have to do now?????????
    how the linux will load the driver for the modem it could not detect it also.

    linux supports modems?

    Wow, i didn't even realise linux now worked with software modems.

    I think the biggest problem is that so many people these days use network cables, and those that do use linux choose not to use a modem because they often spend a lot of time on the internet.

    Basically I would recommend that u post that question on the official ubuntu forums because its their documentation you used.

    I'd love to help, but I have absolutely no idea why it isn't working.

    it was the driver which was not loading at booting. now i selected it manually. thnx for ur reply. currently replying from ubuntu.
