    Unhappy Installing Wine AMD64

    Hi all

I'm a SERIOUSLY newbie to Linux and Ubuntu so please keep that in mind when responding!

I'm trying to get Wine installed so I can start devoting my entire home PC experience to Linux and not Windows.

I've tried to download and install Wine as per the directions on their site for Ubuntu:

however I'm not having any luck. When I enter this repository deb dapper main into Synaptic Package Manager, I get the following error: 404 Not Found

Can any one tell me what's up with this?

I want to install Wine but being a newb to Linux, I want to stay away from using the source packages/the terminal as this scares me!!!

But any help you guys can offer me that gets Wine installed on my system at this point would be great!

    Thanks heaps in advance guys.

    what about:

    apt-get install wine

All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

I don't think there are AMD64 packages for Wine. You may need to create a 32-bit chroot and install Wine inside that.
