    installing dapper 606

    i did a server install of dapper then i tried sudo apt-get install x-window-system-core gdm ubuntu-desktop but i get this message E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) i had no problems with previous versions of ubuntu but this one has me at my wits end can someone help

    Try
    Code:
    sudo apt-get -f install
    several times, until you can see which package is not being installed. That should shed some light on this.

    Also, don't forget that the server kernel has been compiled differently to the desktop kernel, so wont be quite as efficient for desktop uses. You might want to consider using the desktop version for better performance
