    Flash does not install on Opera 9

    I have Ubuntu Dapper running. downloaded Opera 9 using automatix. but it doesn't have flash support. but flash downloaded from adobe does not install. Here's the following message:

    Macromedia Flash Player 7 will be installed in the following directory:

    Opera installation directory = /home/shivkumar/.opera

    Proceed with the installation? (y/n/q): y
    cp: cannot stat `/home/shivkumar/Desktop/': No such file or dir ectory
    chmod: cannot access `/home/shivkumar/.opera/plugins/': No such file or directory

    Installation complete.

    what to do?

    Do those directories exist, and were you running the script under superuser? (sudo)

    flash does not install in Opera

    Actually, I have figured how to do this. By default root is disabled in ubuntu. So Opera folder needs to be copied into the home folder and then the new program installed.

    in case you didn't know, you can setup a root account with
    sudo passwd root
