Unable to play DVDs when not connected to internet

Whenever I attempt to play a DVD when I'm not connected to the internet Xine opens then immediately closes. What might be causing this and does anyone know what I can do to fix it?

try running xine from the command line and see if any error messages are posted.

    The following text appears:

This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.3.
    (c) 2000-2004 The xine Team.

It doesn't give a reason for why it suddenly exits.

It gives a few pages about plugins being loaded and then says

    init class succeeded
    gnome_vfs init_input_class
ERROR: Could not determine network interfaces, you must use a interfaces config line

    try deleting
    Code:
    xineplug_inp_smb.so
    in
    Code:
    /usr/lib/xine/plugins
or something like that (in may be a folder at that location.... you may have to search for the file).
