    Visual troubles, Ubuntu 6.06


    My moniter only shows stripes and bars when it boots from CD. This is what I tried and it didn't work:

    Ctrl+Alt+F2.
    Command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg".
    Reconfigured moniter (Dell E173FP) to run with optimum 1280x1024 @ 60Hz at 24 bits color.
    Ctrl+Alt+F7.

    Please help

    After you reconfigure the monitor you will have to restart the X server: CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE, or "/etc/init.d/gdm restart" (assuming Ubuntu and not Kubuntu).
