    So you say your resolution only goes weird when you use the "nvidia" driver, and not when you use the "vesa" driver?

    yes, thats what i say. But i cant play sauerbraten without the nvidia driver

    At this point I'm all out of suggestions, other than reinstalling the Nvidia driver manually using my method. Hang in there, perhaps someone else will have some insight.
