Please help me get 3D acceleration working! (yet another ATi issue)

    Hi!
Despite making numerous posts on numerous forums, I still have no 3D acceleration. I'm using an ATi Radeon 9250, and I have tried the following howto pages:

    http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...allation_Guide

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=204910 (and I've been through that entire thread and tried ALL the suggestions there)

I've yet to hear from a single person who has got this card working with the fglrx driver and after 2-3 weeks of trying I'm etting ready to give up and go back to Windows .

Here's the deal: with "fglrx" selected in xorg.conf, glxinfo gives me:

    Code:

With "radeon" in xorg.conf I get much the same thing.

    fglrxinfo returns the following:

    Code:
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org

    OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.1)
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated,

    Martin
