    I wasn't aware AOL made a client for linux.

    there are however, other IM clients that use the AIM protocol
    if you are using Ubuntu, run "gaim"
    if you are using kubuntu, run kopete, or download gaim(my preference)

    If you want to use AOL as opposed to Gaim or Kopete (both of which I recommend), use apt to install libstdc++6. To do so, at the command line, type:
    sudo apt-get install libstdc++6
    After that is done, you should be fine (assuming no more dependency problems arise).

    Gaim is still far better in my opinion. Just normally comes installed anyways and works better for me. i recommend it also.
