    libGL.so.1 Missing

Well, I try to listen to music using XMMS and it won't load. So I put xmms in the terminal and it outputs,

libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Message: device: default
Is this why I can't hear any audio? Where can I get libGL.so.1? I did an apt-cache search libgl but there were several choices and I didn't know which to get.

    Thanks,

    Jeffrey

From the looks of it, you want libgl1-mesa-glx: http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/s...edgy&arch=i386

It says I already have it installed. And I still have no sound.

Edit: So I'm going to guess that this libGL.so.1 is a graphics problem and has nothing to do with sound. But I have installed the stuff and and now I try to run things like, stepmania, amarok, and xmms and they won't open. Where can I get this file?

    Try to find the file:
    Code:
    sudo find / -name libGL.so.1
There should be one in /usr/lib/

I ran that command and got:

find: /proc/6987/task: No such file or directory
find: /proc/6987/fd: No such file or directory

Is there anyway you could e-mail a copy of the file or would that not work?

Try reinstalling the package. If it says it is installed, uninstall it and then reinstall it.

If I try to remove libgl1-mesa-glx... it gives me a list of applications that are "no longer required" and were "automatically installed." I've done this before, and it removed every application in Kubuntu and I had to reinstall Kubuntu. Is there anyway to tell it not to remove these applications?

    Try this:
    Code:
    sudo dpkg -r --force-depends libgl1-mesa-glx
    Install it right after.

I just did that, and I still receive that error. I uninstalled it then reinstalled it and still get the error with stepmania, xmms, and amarok.
