    Partitioning an external HD

So, I have ubuntu on my laptop and an unformatted external HD. But I am having trouble partitioning/formatting using the built in disk manager (System>Admin>Disks). I can't use the "Create" button to create partitions. I can see the drive, but that's it... Help.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in Advance.

use GParted for partitioning. its pre-installed in Ubuntu. look in Menu.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
