    Ubuntu Installation Help

When I try and install from my Ubuntu 6.10 disc on my IBM T22, it gives me this after the first splash screen. I already have Windows XP on my laptop but I am trying to install Ubuntu and to get rid of XP, not dual booting or anything.

[171796677.216000] piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: IBM Laptop detected this module may corrupt your serial eeprom! Refusing to load module!
    *Activating swap...
    mount: Function not implemented [OK]
    *checking file system...
    fsck 1.39 (29-May-2006) [OK]

Then it goes to a black screen and the disc hits for another 10 seconds or so, then nothing.

this is a problem with T-Series Thinkpads. only Ubuntu 5.10 works on these. either try another distro or Ubuntu 5.10.
Mepis 6.0 is based on Ubuntu 6.x and it works fine but it uses KDE as Desktop Manager.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
