switch Desktop Environment from 'session' tab at Login Screen. select 'KDE'.
you can set KDE login manager too. execute this code in terminal and select 'kdm'.
    Code:
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks. That 'session tab' worked just fine.

I find the best and quickest way to switch between Gnome and KDE is to install the kubuntu metapackage.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
This also works for any of the desktops
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
    sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
