    prefered mp3/video/dvd/etc player for ubuntu...

    just wondering what people use and why...

    I use xmms for music. it's the closes i can get from winamp.
    I like xine for vidoes because i like that way... using a controller to play videos. Totem is similar to Windows Media Player so that's why i don't like it and Mplayer is complicated to use(run it from terminal and you need to know the hotkeys to use it)

    Well, I'm in Gentoo but ...

    Music: Audacious, XMMS with a spin
    Video: MPlayer, sometime just in console or with gmplayer
    DVD: Xine, it supports menus

    amarok for music! its awesome, mplayer for dvd's.

    I like vlc for vids, xine for dvds, amarok for music. I also like kaffeine as an all purpose player.
