    poor sound quality in ubuntu?

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to improve the sound quality for mp3-playback, etc, in ubuntu? I'm dual booting and sound quality is fine in windows, but in ubuntu it tends to be kinda scratchy. I'm using intel integrated sound.

    Code:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
The driver i believe is ALSA (or is that a codec?)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

You might try turning down the volume of the pcm and turn up the master (this helps sound quality for me)
