Help Installing Ubuntu
Don't know if I'm doing this correctly or not. New to Linux (Ubuntu) or at least trying to. Also new to this forum. Don't even know if I'm doing this post correctly. If I'm not and am stepping on someone's toes then my apologies and please tell me the correct way. My problem: Downloaded Ubuntu 6.10 and made bootable disk to evaluate. Seem to work OK on my wife's AMD Sempron 2.8 GHZ with an older ATI Video AGP card and 512 memory. However on my computer, where I want to use Ubuntu, it doesn't work. After loading for a little while, it stops and goes to a command line interface. The following is printed on the screen: /bin/sh: can't access tty. job control turned off. (initramfs) _
My machine is a 3.2 Pentium D using an Intel Motherboard with the 965 chipset. 1 GB memory. Am using onboard video. Really would like to get it working on this Computer. Any help appreciated.
