    Gedit

anyone know how to set up the "External Tools" menu in Gedit. I can't find any help docs which describe this and I can't sort out the replaceable parameters etc. I'm trying to run gcc from Gedit the same way I use Textpad in Windows. Is there an editor which might be more useful (without going to VI or Emacs).

    Thanks,
Had a look there but I have since been reading up shell scripts. I should be able to invoke gcc that way as long as I can find out how to pass the current file name to it automatically.
