    admin problems

    errrrrrrrrrrrr

So, I changed my the configuration user to my account by changing the name and now it won't allow me administration privileges. I am so new to this and no one in my house( or that I know) knows anything about Linux.
I just want to add a game under the add/remove process thing..... and it wont let me. it asked me the admin password, i put it in, then there was an error

    Failed to run /usr/sbin/synaptic '--hide-main-window' '--non-interactive' '--parent-window-id' '29360131' '--set-selections-file' '/tmp/tmpR1191B' as user root.

I don't know what this means, or how to fix it. I have noticed that the error keeps changing...."tmpR1191B" <<<keeps changing.

Please help, Im a girl and dont know what im doing........

I don't know exactly what the error means, but did you make sure to enter your user password as the admin password?
