limiting cpu usage?
Today I installed the Folding at Home console program in my shiny new Ubuntu 6.06 box, and It's great except for one feature...there is no way to limit the cpu used. If I had a desktop this wouldn't be a problem, but I'm running an aging, hot, pentium 4 laptop which I seriously could see melting if the CPU runs at 100% for a week.
So my question is this. Is there a command line tool or option I can run to be able to limit the threads CPU usage to say 50% of the maximum?
I have thought about using the power saving mode on my laptop (restricts cpu to 70% in the hardware) but this would slow my entrire computer down. I just want a solution that only affects the one thread.
Thanks in advance
Jimmy

Thanks soooo much. I'll try this later on. It looks like my answer though!
