Nvidia drivers/correct display
Hi, I'm very new to Linux (used SuSE for a few weeks then switched to Ubuntu 6.06 because of performace issues), but I've got everything working so far with the use of online searching but can't get my display to work properly. With SuSE I installed Nvidia drivers from the nvidia website and everything worked fine, but with Ubuntu I'm a little confused.
I have a 19 inch widescreen monitor, but the highest resolution I can set through Ubuntu seems to be 1280x1024.
I tried installing the drivers using
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper#H...r_.28NVIDIA.29
then, I tried using this tutorial (method 1):
http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Latest_Nvidia_Dapper
I have no idea if the drivers are installed properly but I don't see anywhere where I can change the screen resolution to be higher and the display doesn't look any better
I have an Nvidia GeForce4 440 MX.
Sorry if it sounds confusing.
Thanks
