help in installing wine in ubuntu 6.06,

and what sort of applications can we run on wine? andhow we can execute wine based applications

It's basically installed by issuing the following command in a terminal:

sudo apt-get install wine

y i have done that but not able to execute any of my .exe files what to do any games even small applications

So when you get to the ....
Type wine the-name-of-the-application.extension (e.g. wine realplayer.exe).

what happens? do you get any error messages ?
