Fallout tactics using wine doesnt detect cd

I installed fallout tactics and the installation worked fine but when i tried to play the game it looks for the cd and asks to insert it but its already in the drive.
Im using ubuntu hardy and the version of wine im using is 1.0-rc1.

This may seem like a strange question to ask, but are you sure your /mnt/cdrom is listed as a drive in winecfg? When I first started running wine I ran into the same issue. Just because you ran wine from the cdrom mount point to install the program does not mean that wine is configured to read that mount point as your cdrom.

Check in winecfg and if this isn't the problem let us know.

Hope this helps

It is auto-detected as d:/
But no it still doesnt work oddly and i checked the cd config for fallout tactics and that has the letter as d:/ also so I dont see the problem in detecting the disk.

Have you tried to either make the cd an .iso and mount it or copy the cd contents into a separate folder and point to it as the cdrom device?

My guess is that you will need a no-cd patch, because wine doesn't support most anticopy mechanisms. But that shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, you should first always look into the winedb. It's purpose is precisely to track how a given game work and many users post tricks and tips there to get it running.

For some reason the no cd patch doesnt seem to work. It fails after the patching starts.
I have already checked the winedb page for fallout tactics but it didnt really help too much.
