getting on with WINE

hello everyone
i am new to linux.
i have heard alot about wine that it allows to run windows programs in linux.
can u please just tell me any simple application that i can install in linux using wine , so that i can understand what wine is and carry on with wine!!!

There are all sorts of programs and applications that can be used on wine, however there are just as many that cannot, so it's probably best to have a go with something that is fully supported.

You will find lists of supported app's as well as lots of other info.

Of course, what would be more ofan adventure for you would be to find open source replacements for the windows app's that you want to run on wine!
