BTW, Most of the softwares you want to run are available in Linux natively and in better way. there are just alternative to all.

MS Office - You can run older version on Wine, in some cases newer too. There is an alternative for it - OpenOffice (Supports all MS formats too)

Notepad - Runs on Wine, actually in-built. better alternatives - Leafpad, Mousepad, Gedit, Gvim, X_X there are just many in linux.

Windows Media Player/Quicktime - older versions runs on Wine. alternatives - VLC, Totem, Mplayer, Xine, Exaile, Banshee, Rythmbox using GStreamer and ffmpeg. codecs.

Google Chrome - Runs on Wine (Use PlayOnLinux), but why do you even need that...soon will be available natively on linux.

Audicity - Available in Linux

GIMP - Available in Linux

Google Earth - Available in Linux

BitTorrent - Available in Linux

WinRar/WinZip - Format support available for Linux
