What are you using to try and install counterstrike on Linux? There is no ActiveX on Linux, this is a Microsoft invention that works only with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

If you want to run CounterStrike (or any version of Halflife) on Linux, try this page, it might help.

No. ActiveX is a content delivery mechanism that operates with the OS on a much lower level than Javascript, and is proprietary to Microsoft only. Javascript does not allow you to install/uninstall/patch applications on your computer (ActiveX does, hence the proliferation of viruses/trojans/worms that can be installed without your knowledge by simply accessing your website).

Microsoft did try to make their own version of the Java language (not the same as Javascript) a while back, but after a court battle they lost that fight, spurring the creation of C# and the .NET languages.
