DirectX 9c in Linux?
Hi,
Is it possible to install directx 9c in Fedora Core 2 Final. If so can someone please tell me were i can download the linux version, and if there is any installation iinstructuins that come with it.

DirectX is Windows, Linux doesn't use it. Linux's graphics dealie is generally XFree86 or X.org. There was a recent thread on the same topic which you might find useful. i'll look for a link

In short, as lakerdonald said, DirectX is for MS Windows only. OpenGL is the closest Linux equivalent. Why did you want to install DirectX? Are you having trouble with 3D applications?Registered Linux user #270181

guild wars needs it, it doesnt run on open gl
- 06-07-2005 #5If you want to run MS Windows games on Linux (and this question has been asked many, many times) your best bet is to use something like Cedega, which translates the Direct3D calls into OpenGL calls and lets you run some MS Windows games on Linux.

it has 2 stars on cedega, the install process is about 90x buggier as well. i got it installed using wine and run it with cedega
