I just checked at winehq on this app.
You didn't mention if you are using a 32bit or 64bit operating system as there is a difference in the ratings for each.
But after reading the gold rating I have to ask myself what that reviewer was thinking?

Problems with Cd importing, graphical interface 1/2 missing and cursor disappearing is more of a bronze rating rather then gold.
Have you checked out Rhythmbox? I have heard you can use it to sync your devices.
Another option is to install VirtualBox from their site (Not the Repo's) and install Windows in VB then you will be able to use itunes in that.
Unfortunately Wine is not a miracle cure all interface and companies think that only Windows and Mac users exist.
What really gripes me about itunes is that it is written for a Mac and Mac's are Unix based which would mean it would probably be easy for them to port it to Linux but they don't seem to care about the Linux community.
