can't open Wine Control Panel

I've installed Wine from the mandrake distro. But I can't seem to open the wine controll panel.. Error message : Cannot load any applets..
And where do I install Windows programs..??

As i understand it at this time, wine is a command based program. In order to get a control panel to run with it you also need a program called xwine. Dont know more than that yet cuz I killed an evening trying to get xwine installed on my OS... Also trying to sort out the command interface with wine. It just dont like the commands I'm giving it.

Doh! several hours later and after reading more I entered:

#winelauncher

and got the console... Plz pardon my newbieness!
