I have (maybe) the exact same problem. As soon as I run wine, my CRT shuts off. The tv-out is still active though, and my system still responds. It just finds it extremely amusing to switch off my monitor.

I am running into the same problem with Wine on SuSE 9.3 Pro.
I have noticed though that if you press ctrl-alt-F8 like you were switching to a second user, and then ctrl-alt-F7 to switch back to the first display, it comes back up. And I can see the application running under wine. I think there is something wrong with either my wine install, or the way it hooks into my windows manager (KDE 3.4).

If anyone else can replicate this is would be helpfull.
