For those of us who need Internet Explorer for one reason or annother wine is a godsend! It is very simple to install with the winetools script included with wine.
Install wine as normal and start winetools from the command line:
EDIT: you dont need to be root for anything other than the initial wine instalation.
Code:
winetools
The recommended version of wine to use with winetools is 20041019 however if newer versions of wine + winetools work for you then there is no reason to switch so try what you have installed already first.
You should see a lot of output and some dialog boxes will apear, read what they say and click ok to continue.
You will be presented with a list of options with installable software at the top.
Internet Explorer is included in "base setup". Double click "base setup" to continue and you will see a new list of software.
You _must_ install DCOM98 to continue.

So start with selecting that in the list, installation will be quick and you will be back at the menu. Now select Internet Explorer in your language, if available, otherwise select the English version. This install will take some time and it will automaticaly download IE from microsofts webserver.
You should also check out some of the other software you can install with that tool, the corefonts springs to mind!
Have fun
