How to install Wine
How do I go about installing Wine I have a copy from a coverdisc from Linux Format December 2005 but not sure about how I go about installing it. I'm using Ubuntu 5.04

Try typing this into a gnome-terminal:
I am sure that is mentioned in one of those links above but just in case, I have mentioned it here.Code:sudo apt-get install wine
You could also use Synaptic (available in the menus somewhere) to search for it and install it.

hehe... you know, I've never installed wine, as I refuse to run any windows apps under linux and don't like running them under windows, but sometimes it's a must.

I have actually heard it is better installing it from source than packages, you get to configure it completely, so it works with more stuff, apparently.

- 05-29-2006 #9I looked at the Linux Format DVD and there was Wine for Ubuntu "Hoary" .deb's. that should be pretty easy to install. I had just recently installed Wine -0.9.11 on FC5 using "wine-0.9.11.tar.bz2" that was included on the LXF80D DVD.
