Try typing this into a gnome-terminal:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install wine
I am sure that is mentioned in one of those links above but just in case, I have mentioned it here.

You could also use Synaptic (available in the menus somewhere) to search for it and install it.

hehe... you know, I've never installed wine, as I refuse to run any windows apps under linux and don't like running them under windows, but sometimes it's a must.

I have actually heard it is better installing it from source than packages, you get to configure it completely, so it works with more stuff, apparently.

I looked at the Linux Format DVD and there was Wine for Ubuntu "Hoary" .deb's. that should be pretty easy to install. I had just recently installed Wine -0.9.11 on FC5 using "wine-0.9.11.tar.bz2" that was included on the LXF80D DVD.

I unpacked it in my home directory and a directory was created "wine-0.9.11", then I opened a terminal in that directory and followed the instructions in the "README":

"Whenever you compile from source, it is recommended to use the Wine
Installer to build and install Wine. From the top-level directory
of the Wine source (which contains this file), run:

    ./tools/wineinstall ".
