Wrong wine configuration / Restore defaults

Hi,

I've already posted this on linuxquestions.org, but nobody answered until now. Maybe you know a solution:

I've installed the latest Wine on a Debian (2.6) Etch (testing), and wanted to install a Player called "J. River Media Center" afterwards. But the Media Center installer needed an IE, so I installed IE 6 (SP1) by using the Sidenet Wine Configuration Utility because I did'nt got the IE 6 installer to work properly on my own. The script installed IE 6 flawlessly, and then I retried to install Media Center. First, it didnt work, and the progress bar at the beginning of the installation wizard just didnt move. Next day, I tried it another time and it worked, but overall, wine seems to be configured a way I dont like it.

I already tried to change the [Version] in /home/myname/.wine/config back to "winxp" ("win98" was needed for IE 6 to work, but I dont use it anyway, I just needed it to install Media Center) but it didn't work.

So what do I have to change, to make things look correctly? For example the installer should look like before, and I think, that the dialogs in Media Center will also look nice then.

well, i'm also new to linux, but i've been messing arround with wine a bit and i've found that not everyone is a wine expert, so just be a bit patient for the pro's to answer

the only thing i can suggest is to check out winehq's application database, and see if any of the developers have tried to install that particular software you want. they do actually have a wide selection of tested programs and are testing new ones all the time, so its likely yours is listed.if you find it, then check for any bug reports that may resemble your problems. if you cant find a listed bug, the submit one yourself, and the wine dev team will help you out
