Anyone know of any good alternatives to Wine/Cedege?

As far as I'm aware, wine is the only software that translates Windows system calls. Cedega uses wine for games, and Crossover Office uses it for productvity apps. If you don't want to buy a copy of Windows, those are your only choices.
Otherwise, you can use VM-Ware to boot up a copy of genuine Windows while you're running Linux. It's like having another computer running inside a window.
Or if you want to run a DOS program, DosBox works very well.Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!
