    Problem installing Wine

I am running kubuntu Edgy Eft 64 bit amd. I tried installing using adept but it can't find wine for a 64 bit architecture. So when I tried to install from source i ran into an error. The error i'm getting reads
configure:error: C compiler cannot create executables
As I cannot install any other way I need to know how to fix this. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution? I installed the latest version of the ubuntu C compiler but still no luck?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I figured it out I needed to run CC=gcc ./tools/wineinstall not just ./tools/wineinstall

Follow the instructions on the wine site.
You first need to add the reposotory in the source list. And then you can use adept or apt-get.
