Office XP with Wine
I feel like I am actually pretty close to having Office XP up with wine. I have Ubuntu Linux and Win XP on separate partitions on my drive. If I run "wine winword.exe" as an execution off the XP partition, word loads like a charm. However, it says that "Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."
Any ideas how to get around this??
Thanks!!

If youre just trying to use Word, why dont you try OpenOffice or Textmaker or another free word processor? Seems like a lot of work to go to in order to make documents when there are great word processors for linux

yeah use openoffice. It can load microsoft office files almost flawlessly. Some minor reformatting probably needed but not much.
