"Sorry, this product is not supported under this version of Windows" - fallout1 setup

Hi,
I am trying to install fallout 1 - which is supposed to work under wine (i am using the latest 0.9.41 version of wine under ubuntu feisty).

I mount the cd image, and then run wine SETUP.EXE.
It seems to load the installer, and I get to the language selection screen, where I choose English - then I get the message:

Sorry, this product is not supported under this version of Windows

Anyone have any idea what's wrong? I vaguely remember playing fallout on wine in the past...

Thanks in advance,
Ido.

run winecfg from terminal and now in Application tab -windows version to which version of windows is it configured.

if it's other than windows 98 change to it

for more information visit the link above provided by grave

you can run various programs under different windows versions. So you can configure fallout to run under win98 and your other programs to run under your default windows version

Thanks guys.

At the end I just copied the files from the cd myself, therefor averting the need to run the installer at all and the game now works fine.
