Game Not Starting
Someone gave me a game that is .exe and so I installed wine and installed the game in it. Didn't get any error reports during installation.
However, when I click on the game in the start menu, nothing happens. I mean, it blinks but no games appear on screen. I tried to install it on an XP and it works fine.
May I please know how I may be able to check what would be wrong? Like, was there something I missed during the installation?
What game are you trying to install? WINE isn't an exact science. Some programs work well, and others don't work at all. The only 100% solution for playing Windows games is to use Windows.

I don't game nujinini.
You might try uninstalling wine and either try
Manual - PlayOnLinux - Run your Windows applications on Linux easily!
Which comes with extra scripts for installing Windows games
Or setup a Sun Oracle Virtiual Box Machine with Windows installed inside it. I installed Windows 2000 Pro once as a exercise. Blew it away cuz it was just for practise.
Either one of those applications should be in your synaptic Package manager.
Happy Trails, Rok
Yeah! VirtualBox was actually my next direction. Re the other site, i'll take a look at it too. Might be a good alternative. Thanks! ;)
If it's a DOS game, you might try using DOSBox.
DOSBox, an x86 emulator with DOS
I installed dosbox the other day and have been enjoying playing pacman2 once again :D
Nice! DOSBox is pretty cool for old games.
I got a new phone that has Galaga, I can't stop playing!
also, you should try running wine from command line and see if it outputs any error messages that have more detailed information in them
In Wine, I often find that games won't run from the Wine menu but browsing to them in the "C drive" and running them from there works
